The Chargers put a flag in the ground for Darius Robinson, 51 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
Rosengarten falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A wild overpay on T'Vondre Sweat in the 37th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid a round early for Trey Benson in slot 69, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Darius Robinson. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They went early on Ben Sinnott in pick 142, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They did well to land Sam Hartman in the Round 6 slot, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Roger Rosengarten in No. 226 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
