The one they had to fix is still broken. The Chargers left interior defensive lineman untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.
Every board in the league had Robinson lower, and that gap is the story. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get a matchup weapon at tight end. A real need, handled.
Chop Robinson at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A conviction pick on Blake Corum at slot 69 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Donovan Edwards at pick No. 105 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
They paid up for Darius Robinson at the 142nd pick when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good price on Sam Hartman in No. 183, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
A premium they did not need to pay, Cody Schrader a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
