There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Chargers started one anyway for Blake Corum, 31 picks ahead of schedule. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The Hart pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Nothing to complain about; Joe Alt went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
T'Vondre Sweat at pick 37 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Blake Corum at No. 47, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Roman Wilson in slot 69 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Donovan Edwards at Round 4, Pick 5 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cam Hart at the 142nd overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Sam Hartman at pick 183 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Cody Schrader at No. 226 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
