Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Tre Harris, the No. 167 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 6, Pick 42. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The McClellan reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 19 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A straight-up fair deal on Calen Bullock at the 40th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
Troy Fautanu slipping to pick No. 51 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tyleik Williams a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They jumped the gun on Braelon Allen, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy bit of business in pick 119, where Cam Hart graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Fair-plus on Smael Mondon Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid up for Jase McClellan at the 197th pick when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
You do not let a wide receiver like Tre Harris reach pick No. 217 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
They liked Reuben Fatheree II enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 219. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kamal Hadden in the Round 7 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
