Call it larceny. Treydan Stukes sat on the board until the Round 4 slot, and the Falcons did not need to be asked twice. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The cost of the Kelly reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Omar Cooper Jr. in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Treydan Stukes at the 122nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Trey Zuhn III at slot 127 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Harold Perkins Jr. at the 133rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They did well to land Oscar Delp in pick 138, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No drama and no debate, DeMonte Capehart went about where he belonged in the 139th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A big swing on Jack Kelly at pick No. 215, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid sticker price for Kaden Wetjen in Round 7, Pick 15, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
