The rest of the league had time to spare on Drake Nugent; the Chargers did not wait, grabbing him 26 spots ahead at No. 107. The bottom line is a respectable B.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get a security blanket over the middle at fair value. A real need, handled.
Chop Robinson at pick No. 37 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Johnny Wilson at slot 69 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Roman Wilson at Round 3, Pick 6, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy little value on Donovan Edwards in the Round 4 slot, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
Value said wait; Drake Nugent in the 107th overall pick says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Darius Robinson at slot 142 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Sam Hartman at pick No. 183 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Cody Schrader in Round 7, Pick 6 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
