Boards are made to be trusted, and the Commanders shredded theirs for Barryn Sorrell. He came off 78 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
On value alone, Scott makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Jihaad Campbell slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 17 is lovely value for the linebacker. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Harold Fannin Jr. slipping to the 61st overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Isaiah Bond at pick 79 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Charles Grant at the Round 4 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Lathan Ransom in the 148th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Xavier Scott in pick No. 207 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They will replay Jack Kiser at Round 7, Pick 20 for years; that is how good the value is. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Barryn Sorrell at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
