The Dolphins spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Tahj Brooks, the No. 116 name on the board, in Round 7, Pick 36.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Turner proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Malaki Starks at pick 48 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Circle this one: Jihaad Campbell at the 98th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Jake Majors all the way to No. 114, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Barrett Carter at slot 133 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
DeMonte Capehart at the 149th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Shemar Turner at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Sonny Styles in pick No. 224 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Elijah Arroyo at Round 7, Pick 15 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They barely believed it either: Tahj Brooks still on the board at slot 252. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
