The Darius Robinson selection is the head-turner. The Chargers reached 92 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Fuaga. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Steal is underselling it; Rome Odunze at pick No. 38 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: Taliese Fuaga at the 70th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into Darius Robinson at slot 106, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Roman Wilson at pick 143 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cody Schrader in No. 184. The roster fit checks out.
Sam Hartman at pick No. 227 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
