Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Logan Taylor at No. 215 is 53 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Getting Rodriguez where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
A clean, defensible pick in the 63rd pick with a little surplus value in Christen Miller. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Jacob Rodriguez was still sitting there in pick No. 79, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board fumbled Zachariah Branch all the way to slot 89, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They read the board right and Daylen Everette was the payoff at pick 95. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid a round early for Oscar Delp in Round 4, Pick 22, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached into another round for Logan Taylor, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking Dallen Bentley in the 231st overall pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
