The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named quarterback, a need the Chiefs walked right past. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The cost of the Knox reach is exactly the players who went right after him. However the rest shakes out, Oladapo at that price is a win they earned.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Brenden Rice at slot 62, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tyler Davis at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nothing to complain about; Johnny Dixon went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid up for Trey Knox at Round 5, Pick 25 when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kitan Oladapo at pick 171 is the proof. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Curtis Jacobs in No. 175 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
They took Jase McClellan at par in the 207th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
