When the story of this class is written, it opens with Barryn Sorrell at pick 238, a reach of 90 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
That Marshall Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 29 they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board fumbled Donovan Jackson all the way to No. 117, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tory Horton in the 148th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Jordan James was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let a linebacker like Lander Barton reach slot 174 and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Ja'Quinden Jackson at Round 6, Pick 29 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Barryn Sorrell in pick 238 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Jason Marshall Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Theo Wease Jr. in the 250th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
