Nobody else had Darius Robinson anywhere near No. 106. The Chargers did, by 92 spots, and that gap is the whole story. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a red-zone target to build around. A real need, handled.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kris Abrams-Draine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Sedrick Van Pran at pick 74 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Darius Robinson in the 106th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A wild overpay on Cody Schrader in pick No. 143, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Sam Hartman this early at the Round 6 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Justin Eboigbe at the 227th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
