The Cardinals went off the board in a big way for Ajani Cornelius, 55 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
The Amos pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 16 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They talked themselves into Ajani Cornelius at the 47th pick, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Trey Amos here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Riley Leonard at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy bit of business in the 151st overall pick, where Pat Bryant graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
