The steal of the weekend belongs to the Patriots and Allen: B-.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: LeQuint Allen, the No. 135 name on the board, stolen at the Round 7 slot.

Roberts has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Tetairoa McMillan · WR · rank 9
In pick No. 4 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Aireontae Ersery · OT · rank 48
A reach on Aireontae Ersery in the Round 2 slot; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 69
They took Tate Ratledge at par in Round 3, Pick 5, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Demetrius Knight Jr. · LB · rank 58
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Demetrius Knight Jr. in pick 77, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R4.4 · Pick 106 · Jake Majors · C · rank 102
Good price on Jake Majors in the 106th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.6 · Pick 144 · Elijah Roberts · DE-EDGE · rank 175
They left a pile of value on the table to take Elijah Roberts this early at No. 144. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.1 · Pick 217 · CJ West · DT · rank 217
No edge and no loss on CJ West in the 217th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.4 · Pick 220 · LeQuint Allen · RB · rank 135
The board fumbled LeQuint Allen all the way to slot 220, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.22 · Pick 238 · Cobee Bryant · CB · rank 179
They robbed the room for Cobee Bryant here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
