The Cardinals spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Barrett Carter, the No. 82 name on the board, in slot 151.
Turner has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Job largely done: quarterback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th overall pick they get a blindside protector. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Quinn Ewers at pick No. 47 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jayden Higgins at slot 78 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A wild overpay on Shemar Turner in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 151st pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
