The tape said wait; the Cardinals did not. Dillon Gabriel went at the 78th pick, a good 46 picks before the board was ready.
The King steal is the beam this whole class leans on. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a blindside protector. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Benjamin Morrison at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A big swing on Dillon Gabriel at pick No. 78, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wild overpay on Howard Cross III in slot 114, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 151st pick is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
