The Chiefs spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Trey Knox, the No. 182 name on the board, in pick No. 207.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th pick they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kingsley Suamataia in pick 61. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jalen McMillan at pick No. 92 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Javon Foster in Round 4, Pick 29; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nice patience on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, who had no business lasting to the Round 5 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy little value on Kitan Oladapo in No. 171, a step better than break-even. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Curtis Jacobs at slot 175 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Trey Knox at the 207th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
