Thirty-one other rooms let Johnny Wilson slide, and the Chiefs were the ones holding the card at the 95th overall pick. Highway robbery. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Ford to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 25
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 67
No edge and no loss on Brenden Rice in the 64th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Johnny Wilson · WR · rank 73
Circle this one: Johnny Wilson at the 95th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Javon Foster · OT · rank 129
They did well to land Javon Foster in No. 133, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 143
A slide stopped in slot 158, with Luke McCaffrey worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 183
A reach for Jaylan Ford in pick 172; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
