When a board-topper like Josh Cameron slides to pick 216, you do not overthink it, and the Steelers did not. A weekend of give and take that grades a C.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
The Bowry pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman, linebacker and other spots. Beck has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
If Carnell Tate and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
Carnell Tate at the 15th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
In the 25th overall pick they get a blindside protector at fair value.
You do not let an edge rusher like Jake Golday reach pick 76 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Carson Beck at the Round 3 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

No drama and no debate, Hezekiah Masses went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 35. A need, and now a little less of one.
Louis Moore in No. 161 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Josh Cameron here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They did well to land Miles Kitselman in the 230th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
