Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Chiefs spent the Round 5 slot on Gabe Hall, a name the board had a full 46 spots lower.
Landing Worthy that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get a blindside protector, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Xavier Worthy at the 64th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Somehow Johnny Wilson was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy little value on Javon Foster in No. 133, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached into another round for Jaylan Ford, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Gabe Hall in the 172nd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
