The Chiefs did not so much draft Gabe Hall as overpay for him, 60 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Hicks. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a home-run threat at receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Taking Tyler Guyton in Round 2, Pick 32 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Johnny Wilson in No. 95 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Circle this one: Jaden Hicks at pick No. 133 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Gabe Hall in the Round 5 slot, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A tidy little value on LaDarius Henderson in the 172nd overall pick, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
