The Patriots looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Donovan Jennings at No. 229 regardless, 43 picks early. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Drew Dalman gives the group a proven body among the projects. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

In the 8th pick they get a building block for the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Ladd McConkey at Round 2, Pick 2 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

They did well to land Roger Rosengarten in the 182nd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Curtis Jacobs at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Donovan Jennings well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
