Somebody in slot 151 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Andrew Mukuba, the No. 74 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Nico Collins deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Omarion Hampton in pick 45 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jalon Walker in slot 76 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Andrew Mukuba at the 151st pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
You do not let a linebacker like Smael Mondon Jr. reach Round 5, Pick 30 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They will replay Nicholas Singleton at No. 170 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Jeffrey Bassa here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Circle this one: Robert Spears-Jennings at the 190th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Cam Skattebo at No. 209 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
