The Dolphins torched the value chart for Taulia Tagovailoa, taking him 62 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting Guyton where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 21 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Nice patience on Tyler Guyton, who had no business lasting to slot 55. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A clean, defensible pick in the 89th pick with a little surplus value in Marist Liufau. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on James Williams. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Taulia Tagovailoa. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, AJ Barner at pick 187 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Magee went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No drama and no debate, Donovan Jennings went about where he belonged in pick 242. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had cheaper options than Troy Omeire at No. 256, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
