After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Vikings committed. Bo Nix is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
That Jones pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Hall pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
Bo Nix at slot 28 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jonah Elliss in Round 2, Pick 10 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Braden Fiske at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No drama and no debate, Tommy Eichenberg went about where he belonged in the 108th overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A tidy little value on Mohamed Kamara in No. 130, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Javion Cohen in pick No. 148 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Malik Washington in pick 160 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid sticker price for Frank Gore Jr. in the 165th pick, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
They reached into another round for Gabe Hall, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A conviction pick on Michael Barrett at the 179th pick that the board grades a round light. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Sheridan Jones at the 230th overall pick is the proof. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
