The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
If McGlothern pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Pritchett. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
They will answer for taking TE-EDGE early while running back and interior defensive lineman went begging. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 27 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In the 28th overall pick they get juice off the edge. A real need, handled.
Troy Fautanu at the 35th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Fair-plus on Quinyon Mitchell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in slot 40, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nice patience on Edgerrin Cooper, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick No. 101 on Cade Stover with running back and interior defensive lineman unsolved.
By-the-book stuff, Marshawn Kneeland at No. 103 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 105 with a little surplus value in Dominick Puni. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They liked Malik Washington enough to skip the value, taking him in the 109th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
