Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Audric Estime got past him. The Giants do not have to explain a thing at the 140th pick.
The Rattler pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 9 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nice patience on Quinyon Mitchell, who had no business lasting to the 39th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Spencer Rattler in slot 47, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Tyler Guyton at the 70th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Matt Goncalves at Round 4, Pick 8 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Audric Estime in pick 140 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Renardo Green at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
