You build a draft on nights like this. Eric McAlister had no business being available in Round 6, Pick 29, and the Bills did the only sane thing and turned in the card. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball. Their trades came out a wash either way.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 26 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Elijah Sarratt at slot 91 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jalon Kilgore at pick No. 126 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Kage Casey at the 165th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They read the board right and Demond Claiborne was the payoff at the 169th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They did well to land Thaddeus Dixon in Round 7, Pick 4, just ahead of his grade. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
