You build a draft on nights like this. Jeffrey Bassa had no business being available in No. 199, and the Commanders did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Every board in the league had Dellinger lower, and that gap is the story.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Zy Alexander went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for Colston Loveland here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Circle this one: Devin Neal at the 147th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jeffrey Bassa in the 199th pick, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They liked Garrett Dellinger enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 7, Pick 24. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jordan Hancock at slot 244 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
