The Commanders bet big and early on Korey Foreman, 120 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Getting Stutsman where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 29 they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Hollin Pierce. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They liked Jason Marshall Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in the 126th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cam Skattebo in the 146th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 148 is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jake Briningstool in Round 5, Pick 31 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Korey Foreman at pick No. 229 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Gino Garcia at slot 236 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bryan Felter in No. 245, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Drew Kendall at the 247th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
