The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Garret Greenfield fell into the Round 7 slot. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Bishop proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a press-man option on the boundary. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy bit of business in pick 41, where Graham Barton graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Braden Fiske at par in pick No. 58, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A premium they did not need to pay, Cole Bishop a notch or two before his time. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A reach for Braelon Allen in slot 91; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cedric Gray at the 126th overall pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Steal is underselling it; Tommy Eichenberg at Round 5, Pick 33 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
By-the-book stuff, Jaylen Harrell at No. 202 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow Myles Harden was still sitting there in slot 245, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking Garret Greenfield in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
