The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: De'Zhaun Stribling, Round 4, Pick 26, roughly 28 picks past where he belonged.
Every board in the league had Murdock lower, and that gap is the story. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Steal is underselling it; Domonique Orange at No. 91 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
De'Zhaun Stribling in pick No. 126 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Beau Stephens in Round 5, Pick 25 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Caleb Douglas in pick 168, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They jumped the gun on Red Murdock, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jeremiah Wright at slot 220 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
