The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
If Foster pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Landing Robinson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Jayden Daniels in pick No. 2 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A slide stopped in the 36th overall pick, with Chop Robinson worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Morgan in the Round 2 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A premium they did not need to pay, Max Melton a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Brandon Dorlus at pick 78 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
A wild overpay on Javon Foster in the 100th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Jarrian Jones went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jacob Cowing at Round 5, Pick 16 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Trevin Wallace at pick No. 222 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
