The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Jacobs pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
If Suamataia pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Jordan Morgan in No. 36 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kingsley Suamataia. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Adisa Isaac slipping to slot 67 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A clean, defensible pick in the 79th overall pick with a little surplus value in Cade Stover. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Good price on Khyree Jackson in Round 3, Pick 37, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They let Johnny Wilson come to them and pounced at pick No. 139. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jaylin Simpson at pick 143 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nothing to complain about; Mason McCormick went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Curtis Jacobs here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
