The rest of the league will want that one back. Antwaun Powell-Ryland tumbling to the Chiefs in the Round 5 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Frazier proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Adonai Mitchell at par in Round 1, Pick 25, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jordan Morgan slid further than he should have, and No. 64 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Tyleik Williams in pick 89; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nazir Stackhouse at slot 95 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Tykee Smith at the 125th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Steal is underselling it; Dylan Laube at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Antwaun Powell-Ryland here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Theo Johnson. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had cheaper options than Miles Frazier at the 203rd overall pick, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
