The Taulia Tagovailoa pick is the one that will follow the Patriots into the fall. They took him 95 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
The whole projection now runs through Bo Nix; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The Worthy pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Bo Nix and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 26 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
A slide stopped in the 34th overall pick, with Amarius Mims worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Roman Wilson at No. 62 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nothing to complain about; Kingsley Suamataia went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Xavier Worthy in slot 92 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Cade Stover still on the board at the 93rd pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They did well to land Brenden Rice in pick 103, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Chau Smith-Wade in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Trevor Keegan reach the 180th overall pick and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Taulia Tagovailoa at No. 193 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Nathan Thomas in slot 231. The roster fit checks out.
