Somebody in No. 108 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Giants sat still while Christian Mahogany, the No. 78 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at No. 39 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value with a capital V on Tyler Nubin in Round 2, Pick 15, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Brandon Dorlus in the 70th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Steal is underselling it; Christian Mahogany at the 108th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Max Melton was still sitting there in slot 140, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It fills a real need, too.
Jaylan Ford at pick 185 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
