Call it larceny. Jarrian Jones sat on the board until the Round 6 slot, and the Giants did not need to be asked twice. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The cost of the Wiley reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Ladd McConkey at pick No. 47 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They jumped the gun on Trey Benson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zak Zinter. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A slide stopped in No. 112, with Brenden Rice worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jared Wiley well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Steal is underselling it; Christian Jones at pick 183 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let a cornerback like Jarrian Jones reach the 208th pick and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
