It is the swing that defines the weekend: Tyler Shough in the 78th overall pick, a good 77 spots before the room expected him. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 16 they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Josaiah Stewart at par in slot 47, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyler Shough this early at pick 78. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached into another round for Howard Cross III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Nick Nash at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
