The rest of the league had time to spare on Hykeem Williams; the Vikings did not wait, grabbing him 38 spots ahead at the 244th pick.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Haulcy. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a three-down second-level presence at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
They barely believed it either: A.J. Haulcy still on the board at the 82nd overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Dontay Corleone reach No. 91 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Logan Jones slid further than he should have, and pick No. 97 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nate Boerkircher is a better player than slot 163 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
They read the board right and Kevin Coleman Jr. was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 25. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had Taylen Green higher than slot 196, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Xavier Nwankpa in the 234th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on Trey Zuhn III in pick No. 235; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A real head-scratcher, Hykeem Williams in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
