The real work happened on the phones. The Chargers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The McGregor pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Bottom line, with Rome Odunze leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Quinyon Mitchell at the 37th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tykee Smith at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Dominick Puni in No. 107 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 111 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A clean, defensible pick in the 139th pick with a little surplus value in Cedric Gray. It adds depth where they could use a little.
