Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Packers spent the Round 3 slot on Tommy Eichenberg, a name most had 37 spots down the list. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That Brade pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get juice off the edge, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Taking Amarius Mims in pick No. 41 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
T.J. Tampa at pick 57 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached into another round for Tommy Eichenberg, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No drama and no debate, Zak Zinter went about where he belonged in the 92nd overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
