· 3 reaches
The Chiefs spent real capital to be 27 picks early on Kris Abrams-Draine, and the board is going to hold them to it.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Suamataia falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Adonai Mitchell in No. 32 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nice patience on Kingsley Suamataia, who had no business lasting to the 64th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kris Abrams-Draine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid a round early for Jaheim Bell in pick No. 133, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Braelon Allen at slot 158 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A straight-up fair deal on Roger Rosengarten at pick 172, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Magee at No. 210 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid up for Anthony Gould at the 250th pick when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
