They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Vernon Broughton, 79 picks early at pick 78. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
That Ewers pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 16 they get a cornerstone up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They did well to land Jihaad Campbell in the 47th pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They talked themselves into Vernon Broughton at pick 78, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Maxwell Hairston here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They barely believed it either: Quinn Ewers still on the board at Round 5, Pick 14. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
