The Brady Cook pick is the one that will follow the Dolphins into the fall. They took him 104 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Majors pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nice patience on Jalon Walker, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 4. It fills a real need, too.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Booker at the 39th pick, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Tyler Warren in slot 48 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Malachi Moore in pick 98, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Brady Cook at pick No. 133 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Jake Majors here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They read the board right and Pat Bryant was the payoff at No. 154. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value with a capital V on Cody Lindenberg in slot 224, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jamaree Caldwell in the 240th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
