The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Johnny Wilson, the No. 127 name on the board, sitting there at No. 168 like a gift left on the doorstep. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
The Evan Brown pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Keon Coleman at Round 2, Pick 26 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Fair-plus on Calen Bullock, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Kiran Amegadjie slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 88th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Trey Benson at No. 91 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A curious use of pick No. 127. Edge rusher, tight end and other spots needed the pick; a safety in James Williams did not.
Johnny Wilson at the 168th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jaylan Ford at the Round 6 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Austin Reed in No. 216 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
