The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Cam Hart, the No. 104 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 130 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Ford proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get a two-high chess piece. More want than need.
A straight-up fair deal on Nate Wiggins at slot 38, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They read the board right and Jordan Morgan was the payoff at the 57th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
TreVeyon Henderson at No. 83 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Christian Haynes at pick 85 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Zach Frazier in the 88th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braelon Allen. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Cam Hart here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A real head-scratcher, Jaylan Ford in Round 4, Pick 35 is miles ahead of his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
