It is the swing that defines the weekend: Tip Reiman in Round 5, Pick 36, a good 52 spots before the room expected him. Call it a C and check back in two years.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Spending an early pick on safety with quarterback, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

So much rides on Keon Coleman that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Keon Coleman · WR · rank 38
In pick 32 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 48
T.J. Tampa in the 43rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 95
By-the-book stuff, Brenden Rice at slot 95 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.10 · Pick 110 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 108
Cole Bishop in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Javon Foster · OT · rank 119
A premium they did not need to pay, Javon Foster a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.23 · Pick 123 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 152
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Malik Mustapha in pick No. 123 leaves quarterback, running back and other spots for later.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Marcus Harris · DE-EDGE · rank 140
No edge and no loss on Marcus Harris in pick No. 133; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.7 · Pick 143 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 145
They took Roger Rosengarten at par in Round 5, Pick 7, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · Grayson Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 158
Grayson Murphy at the 158th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Tip Reiman · TE · rank 224
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tip Reiman in slot 172, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
