Somebody in pick 107 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Giants sat still while Jalen McMillan, the No. 81 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 4 of 9, with safety the one that mattered most. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They let Xavier Legette come to them and pounced at slot 39. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They barely believed it either: Kamari Lassiter still on the board at pick 47. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Calen Bullock at No. 70 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jalen McMillan at Round 4, Pick 7 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled Kris Abrams-Draine all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
LaDarius Henderson at pick No. 185 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
